Home Builders Federation
The Home Builders Federation (HBF) helps develop housing policy in the UK alongside the government and other stakeholders. Companies can become members of the HBF to gain access to the latest industry information and have their say on current affairs.
Members range from household names to smaller businesses, and include registered social landlords (RSLs), suppliers and companies who provide professional services to the home building industry. It is funded almost entirely by member subscriptions.
HBF members deliver around 80% of the new homes built each year. According to the HBF, at least 220,000 homes need to be built yearly to meet household projections from the year 2011 to 2021.
The federation aims to increase awareness about issues affecting the home building industry. Views are sought from companies, industry experts, and government to ensure there is open dialogue and to improve and advance the industry. Regular contact with members takes place through consultations and informal meetings and stakeholders and important organisations are consulted in both the public and private sectors.
Members of the HBF are kept up to date with the latest developments in the industry, by; regular, meetings, emails, social media, conferences, seminars and workshops. The HBF also publishes Housebuilder Magazine.
HBF has a number of standing committees, including:
- Careers, Skills and Training Committee (CSTC).
- Health and Safety Committee.
- National Technical and Sustainability Committee (NTSC).
- Regional Technical Meetings (RTM).
- National Planning Committee.
HBF working groups include:
- Small Developers Group.
- Retirement Homebuilders Group.
- Public Housing Initiatives Group.
- Public Land Group.
- Private Rented Sector Group (PRS).
- Second-charge Mortgage Regulation Group.
HBF is governed by a board, run by a chairman and with directors drawn from the major, medium size and smaller member companies to ensure that the full range of member interests are properly represented.
